Baking Cookies, Unloading a Trailer, and Thinking...

The story God is writing with our lives is so much better than the fairytales we imagine...and very exciting to watch, or walk through, as the events unfold!

Introducing…Betsy and Tacy!

Recently Builder told me that we girls could get him a kitten for Christmas…he needs a mouser! So about 2 weeks ago I took a look on Craigslist, and these little cuties are what we found.

Just about all of our animals over the years have been named for favorite characters in the books we read. These two little kittens are no different. Have you ever heard of Betsy and Tacy Go Over the Big Hill?

Holiday Recycling FYI

It's a sure thing, each year, as we unpack those red tubs of Christmas decorations ~

There will be strands that remain dark, despite being connected to the electrical outlet...

And since having a recycling cart pick up every week, and 10 months in the very GREEN British Columbia, I look at everything that no longer has use in our home and just don't want to throw it in the trash!

So, today I called around and discovered...

Those Strands of Christmas Lights that just don't LIGHT...

Can be taken to Ace Hardware or Lowes to be recycled  :)

A Gift of Love and Creativity

Miss Mae's talents continue to grow and expand and develop.  Today she is busy making a gift of chocolately love for a dear friend's 12th birthday.

Good Times!

We just returned from a short trip to visit family 500 miles away.  What a delight it was to see all again!  The cousins had a blast and kept Dad/Uncle, Mom/Aunt and Aunt/Mom laughing and in need of some extra sleep.

Thank you Builder for the gift of this time to visit my Dad, my Mom, my Sister and her wonderful family.  I am a very blessed woman.

We can't wait till you are here too!

It's all quiet here...

The ladies and I are HOME, and Builder is on his way, and a lot of catching up with family and old friends is happening.

Skype, and email, and cell phones and texting are wonderful ways to stay in touch.  But, Oh, the beauty of the face of a loved one, seeing the light in their eyes, of holding a hand or hugging tight!

While all this is going on, Builder and I do have to sort through some details of life, and this post of Leanne's made me smile.  She is  beautiful!

thankful for home

holy experience

It was a long drive and short flight journey, but 4 of the 5 of us has made it "home for the holidays."  And soon Builder, Daddy, Husband will follow.  My gratitude this week is mingled with the need for grace, and prayers.

But in it all is hopeful gratitude.  Gratitude that HE who holds all, He who has done so much, will finish what he has begun.

246. Safe travel & a warm welcome home.

247. Friendship.

248. Restful sleep.

249. Home.

250. Seeing my oldest girls again!

251. Dinner and fellowship with a dear dear friend.

On this Veteran's Day

Dear Dad,

I want to tell you thank you.

All those years you served your country,

I now understand

That you also served your family, past, present and future,

Hoping to preserve the freedom to live...

To live a life free

To pursue life to the fullest.

It cost you greatly,

And us too,

But Dad, today

I simply want to thank you.

Thank you to my Dad

SnapShot Summary ~ October 30, 2010 Week 4

Monday, October 25 was declared a SNOW DAY.  Marme had lots to do to wrap up the plans for the last 2 weeks of this term's lessons and prepare for our assessment later this week.

The Snow Day was a delight and a success.

Tuesday, October 26, 2010 we worked hard and got our lessons mostly done before we headed to a friend's birthday celebration.  More snow fun, lots of girly laughter, good food and fellowship.

This evening was such a gift.  Our girls have so missed their friends, their cousins and grandparents.  These new friendships have been very slowly developing, but with the news that we will be in the area for 2 more years, there seems to be a bit more bonding going on.

Wednesday, October 27
We head into town to pick up mail and find WIFI at THE coffee shop in town, so that I can try to not go over my data limit this month.
We put in two pins ~ one for us, and one for the place where I was born and mostly grew up, just becuase there was a big empty place all over tornado alley.
Haha. I just read over that, I meant empty of pins, not that Tornado Alley is empty. Okay, the Coconut Mocha, free wifi and that comment has me giggling...

Thursday, October 28, 2010
No pictures today.  The sun was fully hidden yet again, behind clouds and thick fog.  We did pick up our posters of the Trees and of the Birds of Western North American from Canada Post.  They are laying out flat under some books, so we can get them pinned up!

Friday, October 29, 2010

A trip to town to pick up Chica's glasses.  A morning full of lesson wrap ups.  I did poorly at getting our history readings done this week.  But we finished Science for the term and I can have some fun with history "double time" next week.

Here is a photo from the Chainsaw Carving Collection in town.

Refreshing Orange Creamers

Marme's Orange Creamer

3 Oranges
2 cups 1/2 & 1/2
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
a few ice cubes

Add oranges into a blender with remaining ingredients. Blend until ice is crushed. Enjoy!

Snapshot Summary Week #3 ~ October 23

Monday evening, October 18,, the girls work on their sketches for Sketch Tuesday.  This is a new favorite activity, giving the girls a way to share their artwork, and appreciate the work of others.
The pup is getting somewhat better, but does end up at the Vet's office again.  This time, he also recieves "puppy shots" and over the next few days becomes very sick and we fear we may be loosing him.

A photo doesn't do it justice.

Tuesday, October 19 Chica is mesmerized by the sunrise.

Once or twice a week, during our trip to town to pick up mail, we go past the Rec Centre to see how things are going.  This day was a screamin' excitin' day!  The slide installation has begun!

The first pumpkins I've seen in stores up here, sitting with some pretty pieces I found on clearance at the Safeway in Dawson Creek.

The Beaver Lodge at the Mill Pond.  A very different scene than we've seen since we have arrived.

Three more flowers found

That pretty smiling girl made Marme a daisy chain bracelet.

We didn't know that this walk/ride was the last before the snow was to start.

We finally set to work painting these pretty little pumpkins.

A little glitter.  of course.

And what could we possibly do with these pretty apples?
And these?

No pictures, but oh were those caramel apples good.  And a balm to these homesick Colorado girls.  We have sorely missed the longer sunnier summer slide into fall of home.  These little things were fun.
